Essential Functions:
- Designs and fabricates quality patterns for upholstery and foam builds.
- Reads design drawings to determine type and quantities of materials required for each project.
- Measures, cuts, fabricates, and assembles upholstery, insulation, soundproofing, and interior trim items from assorted materials.
- Utilizes hand tools, power tools, machinery, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Follows patterns, templates, sketches, or blueprints, using chalk, pencil, paint, or other method to make cuts along marked lines.
- Sews, staples, glues, and cements materials to assemble upholstery or trim items.
- Attaches snap fasteners, grommets, buckles, cords, and other accessories to upholstery or trim items.
- Attaches binding or applies solutions to edges of cut material to prevent raveling.
- Performs basic carpentry to repair and produce furniture pieces.
- Operates sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material.
- Sews hang buttons, hooks, or other fasteners onto fabric.
- Fits, installs, and secures material on work piece utilizing most appropriate method.
- Adjusts and replaces webbing, padding, and springs in furniture; secures in place as appropriate.
- Identifies areas of potential problems in upholstery and develops a solution.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Assists with maintenance of shop equipment.
- Manages inventory of basic upholstery and sewing supplies; places supply orders as needed.
- Transports materials and furniture to various locations.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years of sewing and upholstery experience.
Special Requirements/Certification:
- Valid California’s driver’s license, a plus.
Pay Range: $20.84 to 26.00/hr
