Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders, adhering to all department and hospital required license(s), certifications, regulatory agency requirements.
  • Performs bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate the extent of pulmonary dysfunction.
  • Manages and monitors mechanical ventilation and artificial airways.
  • Participates in cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest code situations and assists with intubation.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.
  • This includes the knowledge of specialized equipment and related computer systems.
  • Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
  • Supports the department mission.
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
  • Position may require travel between various Hoag Hospital (Hoag) locations and its affiliates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Home Health:
  • Performs all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders.
  • Performs bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate the extent of pulmonary dysfunction.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.
  • This includes the knowledge of specialized respiratory equipment.
  • Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
  • Supports the department mission.
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
  • Position requires travel to patient homes for respiratory therapy visits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
