Job Description:

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Lead cloud engineer within Cloud Storage Engineering, a pivotal role designed for a senior technical leader. This position is for a seasoned architect with strong technical acumen, a proven problem-solver, and a technology expert capable of setting enterprise-wide guidelines, driving broad adoption, and influencing at the highest levels, with the hands-on understanding necessary to credibly steer technical teams. Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Vision & Roadmap: Define and articulate the comprehensive vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for cloud storage engineering across Citi's global public cloud footprint (GCP and AWS), ensuring alignment with overall enterprise technology strategy and business objectives.
  • Code Contribution & Review: Maintain hands-on proficiency by strategically contributing to key codebases, performing high-level code reviews, and providing technical guidance on Python-based solutions to ensure best practices, architectural integrity, and alignment with strategic objective
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide expert technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship across engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning. This includes developing and empowering high-performing talent within the organization.
  • Executive Stakeholder Management & Influence: Engage with and influence senior executives, business leaders, and key stakeholders across Citi to champion the cloud storage strategy, secure necessary resources, and communicate progress and impact, effectively translating complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Strategic Resource Management: Strategically influence or directly manage the allocation of significant financial and human capital resources, optimizing investments and ensuring efficient deployment to strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive and distinguished experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a minimum of 3+ years operating at a senior leadership level, directly responsible for defining and executing cloud strategy for a large-scale enterprise.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, and proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java), enabling effective communication with engineering teams, informed architectural decision-making, and the ability to contribute to critical codebases or prototypes when necessary.
  • Deep, demonstrable expertise in architecting, deploying, and managing enterprise-grade cloud storage across multiple public cloud providers (GCP and AWS preferred), Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and occasionally dive deep into technical details, performing proof-of-concepts or technical deep dives to inform strategic decisions or resolve critical issues.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, GKE, EKS) and their integration with resilient data storage patterns.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to translate complex business challenges into comprehensive technical strategies and actionable roadmaps.
  • Proven experience leading, building, and motivating high-performing teams/individuals within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline or MBA preferred
