Summary: Tempo Inc./US-EcoLogic Accounting Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day operations of the accounting department while ensuring accurate and timely completion of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This position supervises accounting personnel, reviews accounting transactions and reconciliations, supports financial reporting, and promotes continuous process improvement. The Accounting Manager develops staff through coaching and cross-training, strengthens internal processes, and partners with the Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position reports directly to the Controller or Vice President of Finance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial Operations Oversight:
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, cash receipts, and general ledger activities.
- Review and approve recurring journal entries, accruals, allocations, and supporting documentation.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.
- Inventory and Tax Compliance:
- Monitor, review, and resolve Goods Received Not Invoiced variances, ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation.
- Coordinate and review state sales tax filings, ensure compliance with regulations, and correspond with taxing authorities as needed.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Manage the monthly close calendar and ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate close activities among accounting staff.
- Review reconciliations before submission to the Controller.
- Identify and resolve close issues proactively.
- Monitor outstanding items to ensure timely completion.
- Financial Analysis and Support:
- Perform account fluctuation and trend analysis to support monthly financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Budget versus Actual analyses and provide explanations for significant variances.
- Ad Hoc Reporting and Projects:
- Prepare and deliver customized financial reports and analyses as required by leadership or business needs.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and contribute to the achievement of company goals.
Job Qualifications
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Working knowledge of ERP and general ledger systems
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Advanced MS Office skills with Strong MS Excel skills (lookups, pivots, formulas)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal direction.
- Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and business partners.
- Adaptable to changing environment/technology.
- Demonstrated success supervising, coaching, and developing accounting staff while fostering accountability and collaboration.
- Demonstrated progression of responsibilities during career
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5ā7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- 3+ years of experience as a supervisor
Language Requirement
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively in English.
