Overview

Kimley-Horn's Irving, Texas (TX) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 4+ years of experience to join their Roadway team. This is not a remote position. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction phase services including contract administration and construction monitoring from pre-construction through project closeout consisting of municipal/private utility type projects
  • Construction administration responsibilities include client coordination, response to RFI’s, processing of change orders, shop drawing review, construction schedule and approval of contractor pay applications
  • Monitor single or multiple site construction activities for conformance with project plans and specifications
  • Prepare field reports and photos of construction activities and site investigations
  • Troubleshoot construction issues providing alternative solutions and value engineering in collaboration with engineering staff
  • Review bid documents and technical specifications
  • May provide construction observation training and mentoring of junior engineering staff
  • May conduct meetings with clients and contractors
  • Assist engineers with project permitting including permit applications and certifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and 4+ years of relevant experience 
  • Construction/engineering field observation experience
  • Strong understanding of municipal/governmental agencies (TxDOT) specifications, details, and practices
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices
