The Resource Industries (RI) Director of Risk and Compliance is responsible for overseeing segment compliance, including the development, improvement, and ongoing support of compliance-related business processes. This role also provides centralized operational support to mitigate fraud risk and regulatory non-compliance, in alignment with corporate objectives.

The Director of Risk and Compliance reports directly to the Resource Industries Group CFO and partners closely with senior leadership. The role leads all divisional segment compliance teams and regularly addresses complex matters requiring sound judgment and analysis.


The Resource Industries (RI) segment is primarily responsible for supporting customers using machinery in mining, heavy construction and quarry and aggregates. With a customer-back approach, the segment is delivering ongoing customer value through holistic site solutions, leadership in semi-autonomous and autonomous technology, and innovative energy solutions.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to foster a values-based culture across the segment.
  • Oversee compliance risks associated with Caterpillar’s Enterprise Ethics & Compliance Program.
  • Lead a team of Division Compliance Managers and maintain strong partnerships with enterprise stakeholders to ensure effective, efficient, and compliant business processes, including annual action plans and metrics.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior management by interpreting, analyzing, and responding effectively to compliance-related information.
  • Identify and drive innovative process improvements that enhance the effectiveness of the Resource Industries compliance culture globally.
  • Partner with process owners to identify and prioritize key segment compliance risks and develop action plans that support effective integration of compliance processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with risk owners and collaborate closely with the Office of Business Practices.

What You Have:

Risk Management:

  • Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.

Operational Risk:

  • Knowledge of policies and processes for operational risk management; ability to use tools, data, and best practices to identify, assess, and manage operational risk exposures.

Audit and Compliance Function:

  • Knowledge of major responsibilities and tasks of the Audit and Compliance (A&C) function; ability to manage the operation of the A&C function in various business environments.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking:

  • Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Influencing:

  • Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

  • This role is on-site, 5 days a week
  • This role will be based in Irving, TX

Summary Pay Range:

$189,080.00 - $283,630.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
