Responsible for using Solidworks and associated software to generate the shop paperwork per the Engineering build scheduler, including drawings and work instructions.

Generate Solidworks designs & drawings for orders of CDI products in a timely fashion including 3D, break-sheet, engineering paperwork

Create basic 3D drawings for new opportunities

Review of completed jobs to ensure CDI Design Standards are being followed & customer dimensions are correct.

Contact customers to acquire missing information when required

Strive for continuous improvement by working on ways to make job duties easier, faster, or better value to CDI





   



Requirements

  •  Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks is required. Expertise must include complex assembly management, sheet metal modules, and parametric modeling.
  • Mastery of mechanical drafting standards
  • Ability to translate abstract concepts and rough sketches into production-ready 3D models and detailed assembly drawings with minimal oversight.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of orders from "Concept to Curb," ensuring all shop paperwork and work instructions are optimized for the fastest lead times in the industry.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and goal-oriented, with a track record of meeting strict deadlines and a "can-do" attitude toward mentoring junior staff.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in sheet metal design
  • Deep understanding of HVAC curb adapters, rooftop units (RTUs), and industry-specific structural requirements.
  • Experience utilizing SolidWorks Simulation for structural analysis and airflow analysis software to validate designs before manufacturing.
  • Experience creating and maintaining SolidWorks libraries, macros, or templates to standardize output across a multi-facility organization.
