Truck Shop Diesel Mechanic

Position Summary

Lindamood Inc. is seeking an experienced Truck Shop Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the company's fleet of diesel-powered trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and takes pride in producing quality work that keeps our fleet operating safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, brakes, suspension, steering, and driveline components.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, air brake systems, charging systems, and lighting.
  • Perform engine diagnostics using manufacturer software and diagnostic equipment.
  • Inspect trucks and trailers to identify mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Repair or replace components including brakes, wheel seals, bearings, air systems, radiators, cooling systems, fuel systems, and exhaust components.
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure vehicles remain compliant with all federal and state regulations.
  • Weld and fabricate components as needed.
  • Maintain accurate repair orders, maintenance records, and parts documentation.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe.
  • Communicate repair needs and equipment status with shop management and operations personnel.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of diesel truck mechanic experience.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, air brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software and scan tools.
  • Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in a truck maintenance shop.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working underneath vehicles.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment, lifts, cranes, jacks, and power tools safely.
  • Exposure to diesel fuel, oils, grease, loud noise, dust, and varying shop temperatures.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
