Job DetailsJob Location: ITASCA, IL 60143Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.68 HourlyJob Title:                                           Building Supervisor             FLSA Classification:                        Part-time, non-exempt Employee Benefit Status:                 Classification III Department:                                      Recreation Wage Scale:                                       Building Supervisor II/Custodian 18+ Immediate Supervisor:                    Aquatics & Facilities Supervisor   Position Focus: The Building Supervisor’s primary duty is to maintain the cleanliness, preparedness and daily operations, programs, parties and rentals of the Recreation Center Building.    Qualifications: Candidate must be a minimum of 18 years old. Must pass a background check. Must have current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or is provided by the park district.   Hours: 9:00AM – 1:00PM and 3:00PM-10:00PM Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 10:00PM Saturday and Sunday The Building Supervisor's hours range due to activities and rentals and are occasionally extended due to special event dates.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare rooms for scheduled activities, programs, meetings and rentals, including set up, breakdown, and clean designated rooms for room rentals and facility events. Cleaning includes sweeping, mopping, cleaning toilets and showers, bathrooms and locker rooms, removing garbage and recyclables, washing windows, setting up and taking down chairs and tables, adjusting hoops, curtains and bleachers. Complete daily cleaning log, fill pop machine, inventory products, and perform monthly building inspection as directed. Observe, report and handle any misbehaviors in and around the facility. Assist participants as needed during room rentals, including loading in and out, setup, removing garbage and cleaning spills. Walk building at the end of the day, secure all exterior doors, and set alarm when building is cleared at closing time. Empty garbage and recycling bins into outside dumpsters. Salt and clear snow from the main entrance and walkways as needed. Marginal Duties and Responsibilities: Check the building schedule to review that day’s schedule for activity identifying set-up needs.  Also review the next days schedule to prepare for the upcoming set-up needs. Assist Park District staff with program needs, including clean-up and adjustments for their programming as necessary. Provide customer service to any people needing assistance in the Recreation Center. Refill drink machines as necessary. Attend meetings and training as needed.  Report all incidents, accidents, and injuries promptly and complete needed Accident Incident reports and other forms and documents. Required Knowledge: Good knowledge of emergency protocols, ability to thrive during high stress situations, and awareness of safety protocols, equipment, building and techniques. Strong knowledge of cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures and processes. Ability to communicate, present ideas and make recommendations orally and in writing in a clear and consistent manner. Required Competencies: Staff must possess good safety awareness and judgment. Understand and follow Park District safety policy. Use and enforce proper safety equipment and procedures to protect against personal injury or damage. Ability to work under the direction of the Aquatic and Facility Supervisor. An ability to demonstrate tact and strong interpersonal skills in maintaining a positive, effective working relationship with all employees and patrons throughout the park district. Ability to be proactive, trouble shoot operations and situations, problem solve and make sound judgements in keeping with the Mission of the park district and working with minimal supervision. Capacity to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers. Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions: Staff may be required to work inside and outside.  Dress appropriately for inclement weather when needed. May be required to work during various weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures and rain or inclement weather. Sitting - occasionally Walking - frequently Strength – medium (0 – 50 lbs) Climbing – occasionally Balancing – occasionally Stooping – occasionally Kneeling – frequently Crouching – frequently Crawling – not present Reaching – frequently     Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform ongoing light to medium work. Staff will regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, sit and perform other repetitive motions, as required. Ability to lift medium weights of up to 50 pounds occasionally without assistance and heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of equipment. The ability to lift, turn and carry 50 pounds safely, placing the load on a chest-high shelf fulfills this lifting requirement. Vision is required to observe all activities, the participants during activities, using cleaning equipment and supplies, identifying areas needing to be cleaned, and to review work lists and daily schedules. Hearing and speech are required to hear and converse with staff, parents, and participants. Work environment is indoors and outdoors at the Rec Center and grounds. Potential exposure to chronic infectious disease while performing routine first aid or emergency procedures. The use of the following personal protective clothing and equipment (PPE) is required, based on the assigned job duties.
