The TA will work with students to make sure they are handling the equipment properly and support the instructor by advising on IC policies. 

Requirements/Qualifications: Student must have taken the course before and received an A. 

Hours: 3 hours per week per section

CNPH 11100-05 Cinema Production 1 – Professor Mireille Heidbreder

 

A teaching assistant for Section 5 of Cinema Production 1 during the Spring 2026 semester will be actively helping and assisting the professor during the class period, as well as aiding with equipment pick up and drop off during hands-on production-based class sessions. 

 

It is also expected that the TA will also help students in the course during small group discussions and/or hands-on practicum. As part of not only this position helping with manual and technological tasks, students considering this position should be prepared to actively engage with critiques and discuss their own perspective being a Film BFA, TPDM BS, or Doc Studies & Production BA major to aid students in this course, whom are typically first-year students and gain value information from the perspective of TAs and not solely the professor's perspective. Film BFA students will be given priority. 

 

Finally, teaching assistants in this course also have the opportunity to demonstrate their skillsets as well alongside be prepared to answer questions about the material being taught, once again to not only aid the professor but also so the student can gain the most out of their experience being a teaching assistant for this course. 

 

First-year students will not be considered for this position - only sophomore through senior standing students having already taken Cinema Production 1 within the above specified degrees, with again preference given to Film BFA majors (or the older Cinema & Photography BS or Film, Photography, and Visual Arts BFA programs). A minimum grade of B in the course is a requirement; alongside previous TA experience would be preferred. If one has any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out at mheidbreder@ithaca.edu.

CNPH 24000-01  History of Photography- Professor Rhonda Vanover

TA needed to aid with setting up photographic equipment and lecture delivery, technical troubleshooting, collecting attendance, and monitoring slides via PowerPoint, Videos, etc.

Requirements/Qualifications: Preference will be given to students who have taken Introduction to Photography.

CNPH 22400 (Sections 1 & 2) Cinema Production 2 – Professor Stephen St. Francis Decky


The TA will assist in equipment and application presentations, provide experiential knowledge and advice for students who have minimal experience working on films, assist with the transport, maintenance, and care of equipment used in class, and prepare one or two (supervised) tutorials per semester.

CNPH 22400-04 Cinema Production 2 – Professor Ryan Somelofske


The TA will pick-up and return equipment to PPECS, be an extra set of hands during in class demonstrations and our multiple in class shoots, provide feedback and criticism during critique screenings, and provide peer to peer support during the frustrating process of film production.

CNPH 30400-01 ST: Darkroom Photography – Professor Rhonda Vanover

Classroom assistant must have basic knowledge of mixing black and white chemistry for film and print production, cleaning after students, monitor spills, and maintaining chemistry levels for student use before and after lab sessions with instructor.

TA is needed to assist with setting up photographic equipment and lecture delivery, tidying the room before and after the class meets, calibrating printers for lab work, mixing/measuring chemicals, and providing individual and group support with student activities/labs.

The TA for this class will support equipment pickup and drop-off, supplies for the classroom, cleanup, inventory and software support in the classroom.

•    Help organize in-class rehearsal, including equipment set-up
•    Help organize in-class shoot, including handling equipment: set-up and returns

•    Help organize with attaining talents for in-class rehearsals

The TA for this class will organize in-class presentations, gather materials for class-workshops, and help organize thesis screenings.

Requirements/Qualifications: Student must have taken ACP Fiction or ACP Directing.  

Hours: 2 hours per week per section
Pay Rate: $16 per hour
