DELIVERY DRIVER/PRODUCTION ASSISTANT - Gimme! Coffee

Gimme! is seeking a full-time Delivery Driver/Production Assistant! This position involves working independently and spending a large portion of your day alone in a delivery vehicle or alone doing cleaning tasks (ideal for listening to podcasts all morning).

As a member of the Production Team, the Delivery Driver is responsible for ensuring that all delivery orders to our cafes and wholesale clients arrive safely and on time. As a Production Assistant, the Delivery Driver also assists with Production tasks including bagging coffee, packing orders for shipment, cleaning the warehouse, and maintaining food safety standards.

The delivery vehicle is provided by Gimme, but you’ll need a valid NYS drivers license and your own transportation to the Roastery, which is a short drive from Ithaca or Trumansburg and on the #21 TCAT bus route.

SUMMARY

As a member of the Production Team, the Delivery Driver/Production Assistant (DD/PA) is responsible for ensuring that all Gimme! Coffee locations and wholesale orders within the delivery range arrive safely and in a timely manner. The DD/PA is also responsible for ensuring that orders for shipment are fulfilled and shipped in a timely manner. The DD/PA is additionally responsible for the general maintenance of the warehouse and assisting with production inventory management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Delivery (Major)

• Prepare and complete local deliveries, including Gimme! locations and outside wholesale accounts

• Pull and pack dairy and other refrigerated items for Gimme! locations

• Plan efficient delivery routes

• Pick up and deliver baked goods and empty pastry bins when applicable

• Assist the Production Manager in maintaining  inventory

• Clean and do basic care for delivery vehicle; communicate with Production Manager and E&F about delivery van needs

• Complete daily delivery van checklist and end of week checklist

• Maintain food safety standards at all times

Production (Major)

• Package, seal, and stock coffees 

• Pull and pack orders for shipping as needed

• Pull and pack delivery orders as needed

• Restock shipping materials such as boxes, coffee bags, packing material

• Assist in completing daily checklists

Warehouse Maintenance (Major)

• Receive packages according to food safety standards

• Stock incoming deliveries and maintain orderliness of stock rooms

• Participate in deep cleaning of Production facility

• Assist with laundry and coffee bin maintenance as needed

• Restock shipping materials such as boxes, coffee bags, packing material

Inventory Assistance (Minor)

• Maintain organization of Production supply inventory

• Perform monthly inventory count

• Notify Production and Logistics Manager of low stock inventory items as needed

Equipment and Facilities (Minor)

• Remove and dispose of trash, recycling, and compost from Production area and public employee spaces

• Regularly sweep, mop, and dust Production area and public employee spaces

• Regularly clean public employee bathrooms

• Assist Equipment and Facilities department as needed

Other Essential Functions

• Uphold the values and mission of Gimme! Coffee

• Follow all policies and procedures set by Gimme! Coffee

• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor. The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

• Complete Sanitary Transport Class

Experience, Education, and Training 

• High School diploma required.  B.A. or B.S. preferred but not required.

• Valid NYS Driver’s License and good driving record

• Excellent computation skills

• Excellent written English and English verbal communication skills

• Additional language skills a plus, but not required

• Physical requirements: 

  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently/lifting up to 50 pounds frequently

  • The worker is required to regularly operate a delivery van.

  • The worker is required to regularly operate a hand truck.

  • The worker may occasionally be required to operate a pallet jack.

  • The worker will occasionally be required to taste coffee.

• Working conditions: 

• The worker is subject to various inside and outside environmental conditions.  The worker will work with various cleaning products.  The worker will work with vehicles of varying size, up to and including box trucks.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.  The worker is required to occasionally work in high places, and narrow aisles or passageways.

• Tools used: Vehicles, heat sealers, coffee baggers, hand trucks, pallet jacks, ladders, a variety of cleaning tools and supplies (brooms, mops, general cleaning solutions etc…).

COMPENSATION

Gimme! Coffee offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The hourly wage for this position is $21.76. Gimme! Coffee is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
