Reports To: Outreach Manager
Job Summary: Nursing home/home draw lab assistant performs phlebotomy, alliquoting, registration, use of the centrifuge and scheduling of home draws.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Performs proper venipuncture and post care of phlebotomy site along with labeling each specimen with 2 forms of ID with zero labeling errors*
- Perform patient registration, requisitioning, and workflow utilizing Epic *
- Schedule home draws on the Outlook calendar appropriately*
- Follows all New York State traffic laws and the facilities SOP for courier vehicles.
- Maintains all checklists and keeps vehicle clean*
- Maintain a compliant environment, including adherence to all lab and hospital procedures, HIPPAA standards, infection control and safety guidelines*
- Uses the MCE device properly scanning after each specimen is collected
- Maintains positive attitude, communicates with others in a positive and respectful manner
- Maintains professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities*
- Is flexible and willing to make changes for the benefit of the team

Physical Demands: May require light lifting (up to 10 pounds) and carrying supplies. Repetitive use of hands (e.g. computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time is often necessary.
Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent is required and vocational phlebotomy (or related) course/program OR 2 years of phlebotomy experience
Additional Qualifications: Must possess a current, valid NYS Driver's license. Must have reliable means of transportation to and from work. Good written and oral communication skills preferred. Require ability to prioritize work, manage and adjust changes in work volumes. Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred.
