The Duffield Engineering Education Research Institute is a home for focused on research, collaboration, and action focused on how engineers learn, how innovation can shape educational systems, and how evidence can be used to improve teaching, learning, and professional formation of engineers in engineering.

In its early stages, we seek a temporary administrative assistant to help build the infrastructure of the Institute, plan events and programs, coordinate onboarding for new postdocs and Institute affiliates, develop processes for grant proposals, manage calendars for the director and administrative director, and respond to Institute emails.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree and 4 to 6 years relevant experience or equivalent combination 

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with discretion.  

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft and proofread professional correspondence and reports 

  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment. 

  • Experience with event planning and implementation.

Pay Range: $28.00 per hour

Hours per week: 39

Appointment Length: 4 months from start date, with possibility of extension

Location: Ithaca,

Work Schedule: In-person four days a week, and can work remotely for one day a week
