The DiNicola Lab at the University of Virginia Department of Psychology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position.

Our lab uses a precision neuroscience approach (i.e., repeated scanning of individuals) to explore: (1) how human brains are organized into large-scale networks, (2) how those networks support cool cognitive functions (like memory, social inference & cognitive control), and (3) how networks might change over time.

This position will specifically require working on an NIMH funded project to characterize the organization of brain networks within repeatedly-sampled adolescents and to examine how network metrics might change across this interesting developmental window. Through this project, the postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for studies analyzing a unique, recently-acquired dataset of densely-sampled adolescents.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Candidates must have received their PhD in psychology, neuroscience or a closely related field by the appointment start date.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging data analysis, precision tools and/or developmental methods strongly preferred.
  • The candidate must have strong leadership, organizational and project management skills.
  • The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to develop their own research interests, write research papers, and help mentor students in the lab.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Apply online at https://jobs.virginia.edu/us and search for R0086719.  Attach a cover letter, CV/resume, and contact information for three references (name, email address, telephone number, and address).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of applications will begin on September 5, 2026, but the position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.

This is a one-year appointment, with renewal contingent upon job performance and continuation of funding.
