Job Summary:

The Administrator-Community Hospitals provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for an assigned region of UMMC’s community hospitals. This role ensures alignment with the organization’s mission of excellence in patient care, education, and research while advancing high-quality, cost-effective care in community settings. The Administrator-Community Hospitals serves as a key liaison between the UMMC executive team and community hospital leadership, fostering integration, performance improvement, and growth.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Master’s degree and seven (7) years of leadership experience in healthcare management or hospital operations.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders including frontline staff, physicians, academic leaders, executives, and external agencies—while fostering a culture of organizational effectiveness, quality, safety, and collaboration. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of healthcare financial regulations, accounting principles, budgeting, and reporting, with strong analytical and organizational skills to interpret complex data and inform decision-making. Proven ability to develop and execute strategic and operational plans, optimize financial programs and systems, and provide consultative guidance and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for community hospitals in alignment with system goals
  • Oversee hospital operations to ensure high-quality, efficient, patient-centered care
  • Drive financial performance through budget management, cost control, and growth initiatives
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics for quality, safety, and patient experience
  • Advance clinical integration and standardization in collaboration with physician leadership
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
  • Develop and mentor leadership teams to foster a high-performance culture
  • Identify and implement opportunities for service line expansion and market growth
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, physicians, and community partners
