Job Summary:

To perform radiologic and other imaging procedures to produce images of the body for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries and interventional procedures, while ensuring optimum patient care and safety.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience:

Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and one (1) year experience as a Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:  

Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license or eligible.  BLS required post-hire within ninety (90) days.

Preferred Qualifications:

ARRT registration in Cardiac-Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Responsibilities

  • Performs fluoroscopic, interventional, and/or other specialized radiographic procedures to produce images of internal body organs and bones.
  • Explains procedures to patient, obtains and records medical history relevant to the condition being viewed, selects appropriate equipment settings, and positions the patient in a manner to facilitate optimum imaging results.
  • Views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient.
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and/or infection control practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, constant bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, constant crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, constant reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
