Job Summary


Under supervision, performs a variety of complex radiology examinations, imaging procedures/treatment, interventional diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the interventional radiology, cardiac cath lab, or electrophysiology lab areas according to radiology practice standards. Also assists in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides-on call and callback coverage as required.


Job Responsibilities


•Performs basic to complex quality radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety method as requested by a licensed physician in Interventional Radiology, Neuro Interventional Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Electrophysiology lab.
•Sets up sterile table, assembles necessary instruments, catheters, guidewires, and contrast materials according to procedure requirements.
•Assists Radiologist/Neurologist/Cardiologist with catheters, guidewires, balloons, coils, and treatments.
•Develops appropriate procedure/treatment plan and implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established hospital protocols/guidelines.
•Completes documentation as required to comply with policies and procedures.
•Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
•Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards.
•Completes assigned goals.
•Other duties as assigned



Experience

Required:    
Experience as obtained through the completion of a Radiology Technology Program.

Preferred:
Minimum of 1 year as a radiology technologist. 6 months experience in IR/Cath lab/EP.


Education

Required:    
Completion of a formal education program in radiography accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT.
    
Special Skills

Required:
  
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Radiologic principals/theory. Utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results. Demonstrates ability to receive and follow written and oral instructions; ability to plan and organize work


Licensure

Required:
Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Registry in Radiography ARRT (R). ;BLS Certification within 14 days of hire; New graduate will obtain required registry within 120 days as required; State license as required

Preferred:
Registry in Vascular Interventional ARRT(VI)
