ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Perform design, optimization, and technical evaluation of radiation treatment plansÂ
- Ensure precise and accurate radiation dose deliveryÂ
- Oversee radiation protection for patients and staffÂ
- Provide consultation to Radiation Oncologists and technical staff during treatment planning and deliveryÂ
- Perform calculations and independent reviews of Monitor Units (MUs) or treatment timesÂ
- Conduct weekly systematic reviews of charts for all patients under radiation treatmentÂ
- Perform final chart reviews at the end of treatment courses to confirm prescribed dose delivery and document total doses to critical structuresÂ
- Manage and maintain the treatment planning computer system, including data input, testing, and documentationÂ
- Perform periodic comparisons of planning system output to direct measurements of radiation beamsÂ
- Assist in the specification and selection of radiation-producing machines, accessories, and computerized treatment planning systemsÂ
- Evaluate equipment for continued utility, reliability, and replacement needsÂ
- Develop and maintain a quality management program (QMP) for dosimetry systems and related applicationsÂ
- Provide network and computer support for treatment planning, delivery, and management systemsÂ
- Participate in the implementation of new procedures and technologiesÂ
- Maintain detailed documentation of all calibrations, testing, and quality assurance activitiesÂ
- Assist in training and professional development of radiation oncology residents and staff
- Master's degree in Medical Physics or related fieldÂ
- Board Certification in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)Â
- Minimum 2 years of continuous working experience within the last 3 years in therapeutic medical physicsÂ
- Experience with:Â
- Varian Linear Accelerators (TrueBeam with Brain Lab Accessories)Â
- Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) including Cone Beam CTÂ
- Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify systemÂ
- Treatment modalities including 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMATÂ
- IMRT QA systems (e.g., MapCheck)Â
- CT SimulatorsÂ
- Superficial X-ray machinesÂ
- Experience in a healthcare system with ACR or APEx certification preferredÂ
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilitiesÂ
- Proficiency in computer systems and networking related to radiation oncologyÂ
- Ability to pass a government background check and complete required VA trainingÂ
All candidates must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
- Lift up to 20 lbs
- Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
- Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
