The Nurse Practitioner Clinic examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals following established standards and practices. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Relies on education, experience, professional training and judgement to accomplish responsibilities.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Works under minimal supervision under the direction of the collaborating physician, as appropriate.  May lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice.

Responsibilities

 TECHNICAL TASKS

  • Assist with diagnosis, treatment, and symptom management of acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Order, perform, and interpret treatments within scope of professional practice.
  • Consult program medical director as needed; comply with applicable laws and regulations with respect to Collaborative agreements.
  • Initiate reimbursement for services rendered.
  • The leadership role of the Practitioner includes patient and family expectations; group dynamics to affect positive change; and provides a strong image as a role model. The practitioner will also supervise all RNs who are assisting with the program.


2.   INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS

  • Communicates and collaborates with physicians, nurses and other multidisciplinary team members involved in the care of patients.
  • Acts as patient advocate constantly monitoring, tracking, assessing and evaluating quality of care
  • Promotes communication with referring physicians and the entire team regarding plan of care
  • Promotes professional development of the team.


3.   Other duties as assigned

  • Consistently performs 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.

Qualifications

  • A graduate of an approved professional school of nursing. Completion of State Board of Nursing approved Nurse Practitioner course and licensed to practice professional nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certified in the State of Mississippi by the Mississippi State Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner. 
  • Current BLS Certification
