Position Overview:

The Unit Manager supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the daily operations of the Nursing Department. This role plays a key part in planning, organizing, and directing nursing services in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures. Working closely with the Administrator, Medical Director, and Director of Nursing, the RN Unit Manager helps ensure the delivery of exceptional, high-quality resident care at all times.

  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursing unit
  • Manage and supervise a team of nurses
  • Ensure that all nursing staff adhere to the policies and procedures of the facility
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Ensure that all nursing staff are properly trained and certified
  • Oversee nutrition and weight loss programs, including implementation of appropriate interventions.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits, including new admission compliance, narcotic control, and documentation review as assigned.
  • Manage bowel management programs and related interventions for the unit.
  • Support infection control and prevention initiatives for the unit.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Tennessee, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices, care planning, and resident assessments.
  • Experience with quality assurance processes, audits, and regulatory compliance (including narcotic control and documentation standards).
  • Familiarity with infection control, wound care, and chronic disease management programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, oversee unit operations, and support nursing staff effectively.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.
