JOB SUMMARY First Presbyterian Church seeks an experienced Staff Accountant to serve First Presbyterian Church (FPC), First Presbyterian Day School (FPDS), and Twin Lakes (TL). The Staff Accountant executes the day-to-day accounting operations for FPC, FPDS, and TL. This role maintains the general ledger, executes the monthly close process, performs reconciliations, and prepares internal financial reports to ensure reliable and timely financial data.  The Staff Accountant reports to the Director of Finance & Administration and serves as a key technical contributor within the finance function. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Transaction Processing & General Ledger Maintain the general ledger for all ministries. Enter and code vendor invoices in accordance with the chart of accounts. Record deposits and income transactions accurately and timely. Post routine and recurring journal entries. Month-End Close & Reconciliations Execute the monthly close process. Perform monthly bank reconciliations. Reconcile credit card accounts. Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies. Prepare monthly financial statements for internal review. Credit Card & Expense Administration Enter and reconcile credit card transactions. Ensure transactions are coded appropriately for reporting purposes. Budget Support Prepare departmental budget schedules and analyze historical trends and recurring expenses to support the annual budgeting process. Audit & Annual Responsibilities Provide documentation and schedules to support the annual audit process. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a full-time, on-site, year-round position. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred but not required. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations. Working knowledge of GAAP principles. Proficiency in Excel and accounting software; experience with Shelby and Quickbooks Online or similar systems preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently within an established reporting structure.
