PURPOSE 

 

This position is responsible for assisting in the operations of the department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or is necessary. 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  1. Communicate with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing. 

  1. Perform Preventative Maintenance on tractors in accordance with 396.17. 

  1. Provide Preventative and Corrective Maintenance on tractor-trailer brake system components (e.g. hydraulic, air, anti-skid, ABS, EBS), including adjustment or replacement according to written procedures. 

  1. Maintain and diagnose tire conditions in accordance with written procedures and the TMC Radial Tire Conditions Analysis Guide. 

  1. Diagnose and make electrical/wiring repairs to tractor-trailer light assemblies. 

  1. Perform wheel end maintenance and repairs in accordance with OEM specifications (e.g. wheel seals, bearings, adjustment). 

  1. Maintain and repair driveline components (e.g. u-joints, driveshaft) according to specifications. 

  1. Perform diagnostics on the components of tractor engines, drive trains, HVAC systems, and communication systems using technical and electronic equipment according to specifications. 

  1. Maintain and repair or replace tractor engine components. 

  1. Maintain, repair and replace communication equipment, such as radios and antennas, and Qualcomm equipment according to specifications. 

  1. Complete repair orders, records, logs and other written or computer-based documents. 

 

Qualifications 

  • 3 years of experience in a Medium to Heavy Duty vehicle fleet shop or dealership. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS  

  • 1-year technical school certificate in Heavy Equipment Maintenance or 2 years of experience in a mechanical repair shop 

  • College or Technical school level degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance or Diesel Technology preferred. 

  • Knowledge of intermediate Fleet Maintenance operations. 

  • Customer Centered  

  • Ensures work is completed within established time standards and correctly with no rework.  

  • Accepts responsibility and meets expectations for own work.  

  • Follow company policies and procedures.  

  • Adapts to changing work demands. 

 

Education  

  • High School Diploma or GED.
