Summary

The Forklift Operator reports to LOGISTEED America, Inc. Warehouse Team Lead.

This role will primarily require the ability to perform an array of functions that may include with the use of manual and/or motorized power equipment receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse - including but not limited to: 

  • The successful candidate in this position will possess skills and experience which include knowledge of warehouse logistics, forklift operations, basic office, and customer service skills. 
  • This position requires excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task along with the knowledge to produce accurate workflow in a fast-paced, high-pressure freight forwarding operations and warehouse environment while positively contributing to the success of the team.  
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by established target inventory discrepancy ratio
  • Safely store freight and product in an organized and orderly fashion
  • Identify, document and immediately report damage to freight, product, vehicles or facilities to management and/or supervision
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Read and comprehend SOP’s, work instructions, email and documents; measure and count accurately; write legibly
  • Follow established procedures and meet or exceed safety, quality and productivity standards

  • Safely operate forklifts and other types of materials handling equipment
  • Perform & document forklift safety inspections
  • Safely load / unload trucks, trailers, and ocean containers
  • Identify, document and immediately report damage to freight, product, vehicles or facilities to management and/or supervision
  • Accurately weigh, measure and document export freight shipments
  • Re-package, re-palletize, crate and uncrate freight as directed
  • Safely store freight and product in an organized and orderly fashion
  • Accurately pick and pull orders
  • Create and/or retrieve bill of ladings, shipping documents and labels
  • Arrange transport of local and regional shipments. Follow up to assure timely pick-ups and/or deliveries.
  • Accurately process small parcel shipments (UPS / FedEx)
  • Accurate inventory control and cycle counting
  • Inspect and re-package freight and individual parts per customer specifications   
  • Monitor offsite loading, unloading and installation activities
  • Maintain a safe, secure, clean and orderly warehouse
  • Continuously review condition of work areas and suggest / implement corrective actions and improvements

  • Conduct daily forklift checks and inspections
  • Ability to use Scanners and printers and follow all SOPS   
  • Ability to use radio (if applicable) to coordinate trailer movements with switcher to designated docks
  • Retrieve bill of ladings, shippers and master labels from the trailer and verify parts match
  • Ability to identify, document, and report damage to parts and trailers to supervision 
  • Ability to lock out trailers, load and unload parts racks, and pack materials into cages according to SOPs
  • Ability to work in fast paced warehouse environment around moving powered industrial equipment
  • Attendance at assigned work facility 
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor 
  • Coordinated with Shipping Clerk and Receiving Clerk to dock trailers, unload shipments, and ship products by loading trucks.
  • Fulfilled company orders by using Pick-n-Pull system and computer to locate needed products, bring them down from racks, and assemble them into a crate.
  • Sorted offloaded materials, packaged them onto secure pallets, lifted them onto racks, and documented their warehouse locations.
  • Assisted in onboarding, training, and mentoring new warehouse forklift drivers on pallet jacks, and counterbalanced forklift trucks. 
  • One year of work experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment, automotive preferred

  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders using current technology and processes.
  • Re-stock inventory manually or with warehouse equipment
  • Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
  • Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity; placing materials in stock.
  • Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
  • Ensure orders are properly wrapped/packed/processed before loading onto trucks
  • Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.
  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 
  • Ability to travel if needed for business necessity

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months continuous work experience
  • Warehouse/Distribution/Manufacturing/Logistics work experience with automotive experience preferred 

 

Education and Certifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel - preferred
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered

 

Experience Requirements and Preferences  

  • Strong attention to detail
  • International air and ocean transportation, import/brokerage and export experience are a plus.
  • Ability to understand all safety requirements and regulations (OSHA)
  • One year of work experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment, automotive preferred 
  • Must be able to read, write and count
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills beyond basic warehousing understanding
  • At least one year of previous Warehouse experience and the ability to become certified                                  
  • Requires flexibility and understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goal of the warehouse

  • Two plus years of verifiable experience safely operating sit-down cushion tire forklift and the ability to become certified                                 
  • Experience handling oversize / heavy freight (5,000 lbs. – 20,000 lbs.) is a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of 5S and Lean Concepts
