Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Physical Therapy. Treats patients of all ages with a variety of physical disabilities. Works cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team. Maintains accurate documentation of therapy services in the medical record. May supervise licensed physical therapist assistants, therapy techs, and students. Reports to the department Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Performs a comprehensive evaluation on each assigned patient, within established time frames, considering the patient's age, diagnosis, prior level of function and living situation. Establishes a treatment plan for each patient which includes measurable goals and revises these goals as necessary for individual patients. Conducts and adapts treatment programs in consideration of patient age, diagnosis, physical, psychological and socioeconomic welfare. Designs and fits adaptive devices such as orthotics, mobility aids and tools based on patient needs. Teaches patients/family skills and techniques to meet the comprehension level of the patients/family. Maintains appropriate documentation of patient status summarizing treatments rendered and patient response. Maintains communication with physicians, via verbal and written reports, regarding patient progress and specific needs. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature and in-service meetings. Attends meeting as required. Serves as Clinical Instructor for Physical Therapy/Therapy Assistant Students under the leadership of the CCCE. Supervises Assistants and Aides appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.  

Qualifications

Graduate of Accredited Physical Therapy Program (minimum Bachelor's degree)

Sufficient prior clinical experience in Physical therapy.

Registration and current licensure in Mississippi.
