Position Purpose

The Operator – Forklift is responsible for the accurate and timely handling of materials, including loading and unloading trailers, while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards to support production needs and maintaining a well-organized work environment.

Essential Functions
  • Safely operate forklifts to transport, stack, and organize materials within the plant and yard.
  • Use Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems to process and manage orders accurately.
  • Load and unload trailers, ensuring materials are handled with care and placed securely.
  • Perform all required forklift tasks, including inspections, reporting, and maintenance of equipment, reporting any issues or defects promptly.
  • Maintain a valid forklift license and operate equipment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Safely operate yard trucks to transport trailers and materials on location premises.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure work areas remain organized, clean, and free from hazards.
  • Support team members with material handling needs.
  • Support company values and continuous improvement efforts by performing additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in operating forklifts, yard trucks, and other relevant equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with multiple team members.
  • Ability to properly assess and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally heavier objects with assistance.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable with repetitive movements such as reaching, grasping, and handling materials.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature environments.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs and perform tasks at heights when necessary.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job.
