Position Purpose

The Operator – Forklift is responsible for the accurate and timely handling of materials, including loading and unloading trailers, while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards to support production needs and maintaining a well-organized work environment.

Essential Functions

Safely operate forklifts to transport, stack, and organize materials within the plant and yard.
Use Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems to process and manage orders accurately.
Load and unload trailers, ensuring materials are handled with care and placed securely.
Perform all required forklift tasks, including inspections, reporting, and maintenance of equipment, reporting any issues or defects promptly.
Maintain a valid forklift license and operate equipment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Safely operate yard trucks to transport trailers and materials on location premises.
Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure work areas remain organized, clean, and free from hazards.
Support team members with material handling needs.
Support company values and continuous improvement efforts by performing additional tasks as assigned by management.
Performs other duties as assigned

Work Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficient in operating forklifts, yard trucks, and other relevant equipment.

Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to work independently and with multiple team members.

Ability to properly assess and prioritize tasks.

Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally heavier objects with assistance.

Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the shift.

Comfortable with repetitive movements such as reaching, grasping, and handling materials.

Ability to work in varying temperature environments.

Ability to climb ladders or stairs and perform tasks at heights when necessary.

Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job.

Wood manufacturing facility
