The Center for Academic Excellence is at the heart of that mission and seeks to ensure that all students strive for and achieve academic excellence and, ultimately, graduate from Illinois College. The academic coach’s primary responsibility is to provide students with advice, coaching, advocacy, and connection to other support services on campus. The academic coach will work individually and with groups of students to promote academic excellence and goal persistence, with particular focus on transfer and non-traditional students. Essential Responsibilities: The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical extension of position responsibilities.   Meet regularly with participants to coach them toward meeting their academic goals                                                                          Participate in professional development related study strategies                                                                                                                Help participants and/or their families connect with other on-campus resources and off-campus agencies as necessary     Collaborate with Athletic teams to support strategic initiatives                     Be prepared to teach a course to support students on academic success plans                                                                                          Collect and record data necessary for evaluation of the academic coaching program                                                                                Maintain student files and other necessary documentation relevant to the Center for Academic Excellence    Implement programming to support specific needs of special populations                                           Other duties as assigned   QualificationsQualifications:   Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, or a related field; Master’s preferred Experience working with special populations including transfer and non-traditional students strongly preferred Experience in post-secondary education required; experience in counseling, student affairs, student development, or academic affairs preferred Ability to work effectively with faculty, campus officers, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, engage in creative problem-solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others Commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that is supportive of all students Additional Job Details: Job Title: Academic Coach Department: Center for Academic Excellence Reports to: Director for Center for Academic Excellence Status: Full Time, Salaried, 12 month About Illinois College: Illinois College is a residential, private liberal arts college located in the heart of Illinois, 70 miles northeast of Saint Louis, Missouri, and 30 miles west of Springfield, the capital of Illinois.
