Assembly Worker, 2nd Shift

We are looking for self-motivated and safety-conscious candidates who would like to join our production team in Jacksonville, FL location!

New employees can earn 60K in total compensation when working at Canam Steel Corp for a 40-50 hour work week. This includes the base rate, shift differential, overtime, retention and production bonuses. 

There are additional ways to earn including referral bonuses and mentoring incentives.

Position is full-time with benefits!

2nd Shift 

Monday - Thursday 4:00 PM – 1:30 AM and Friday 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Plus some weekend availability required 
*Must be able to work all shift schedules

Assembles steel joist components ready for final welding; performs such work consistent with corporate mission, values and department's financial objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Sets up jigs, reads and interprets shop drawings necessary for such work.
• Moves parts into position.
• Aligns parts.
• Tack welds or clamps parts into position ready for moving along conveyor to final welding area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including, but not limited to, cleaning, metal scrap removal and other joist assembly-related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, steel industry preferred.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The ability to stand continuously, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequently reach overhead with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend crouch, or crawl.
• Climb or balance frequently.
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs or more
• Close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• Noise in the work environment is generally very loud.

PPEs REQUIRED:

The following PPEs will be required to be worn at all times:

• Hard hat
• Metatarsal safety boots
• Safety glasses
• Ear plugs
• Tacking shield
• Welding sleeves
• Leather gloves
