What You'll Do:

 

Leverage your qualifications as a certified crane operator operating shoreside gantry cranes to efficiently load and unload containers at the terminal. In addition to crane operations, you will support overall vessel operations by performing lashing crew duties as needed and operating container handling equipment, including forklifts and top loaders, to ensure safe, timely, and seamless cargo movement.

 


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate shoreside gantry - container spreader crane.
  • Support vessel and terminal inspections as assigned.
  • Operate container handling forklifts and top loaders.
  • Perform lashing crew duties when not operating crane.
  • Assist with various operational roles throughout the terminal based on operational needs.
  • Perform physical and manual labor tasks as directed by terminal management.
  • Provide operational coverage during periods of absenteeism, vacation, and increased workload.
  • Work flexible hours assigned daily based on vessel operations.

 


Qualifications

Qualification(s):

  • Two (2) years experience as a qualified crane operator.

Education & Credentials:

  • Transportation Worker identification Credential (TWIC) badge
  • Valid Driver's License (Florida)
  • JPA Crane Certification

Competencies:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate electronic devices (tablets, hand helds, etc.) with proficiency.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a Port Security Identification Pass issued by the Jacksonville Port Authority.
  • Must be able to read and understand written instructions.
  • Ability to successfully pass a basic skills driving test administered by the Safety Manager, including:
    • Backing evolutions using a yard jockey with attached bomb cart and container.
    • Safely maneuvering equipment within the terminal and backing between designated carts.

Working Conditions:

 

The role involve exposure to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels, and potentially dangerous equipment. The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform work in an active terminal environment. Availability to work as needed is required, with hours varying daily based on operational demands.
 
Hours: Monday thru Friday (unassigned hours)

  • Applicants should not report to any Crowley facility without prior authorization.
  • A current referral from Teamsters Local 512 (1210 Lane Ave N) is required for all applicants.
