The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is a hands-on technician responsible for the daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of building systems across corporate and dealership facilities. This role ensures that physical environments remain safe, functional, and aligned with Asbury standards.

Working under the direction of a Facilities Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Engineer conducts preventive maintenance, resolves service requests, and coordinates with vendors for specialized repairs. This role is critical to ensuring uptime, customer satisfaction, and compliance with regulatory requirements at each assigned location.

Duties/Responsibilities

Daily Operations & Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks across building systems including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, doors, and minor electrical.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, roof drains, parking lots, signage, fire extinguishers, and site conditions.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical systems, filters, belts, lighting, compressors, and lifts.

Troubleshooting & Repairs

  • Respond promptly to service tickets related to comfort issues, equipment malfunction, plumbing clogs/leaks, lighting outages, etc.
  • Perform light carpentry, painting, and patching as needed for interior upkeep.
  • Escalate complex or large-scale issues to Facilities Manager and assist with coordination of vendor responses.

Vendor Coordination

  • Escort and oversee third-party vendors conduct repairs, inspections, or service work on-site.
  • Confirm scope of work, monitor job completion, and report discrepancies to Facilities Manager.

Work Order & Documentation

  • Use CMMS to close out work orders, track time, and record maintenance performed.
  • Maintain accurate records of PMs, inspections, and corrective actions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and adhere to company and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in fire/life safety testing, egress inspections, and emergency system monitoring.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Monday–Friday, with flexibility for occasional after-hours or weekend support.
  • Travel required between sites within assigned territory.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or trades (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, general repairs).
  • Experience supporting commercial or retail buildings preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in CMMS or work order tracking systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication and teamwork mindset; customer-service oriented.
  • EPA Universal HVAC certification a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work on roofs or exterior grounds.
