Responsibilities

The Fleet Safety Specialist provides risk management and safety services to trucking fleets within a multi-state territory and travels at least 60% of the time to support prospective and current clients.

 

• Provide risk management and safety services to trucking fleets within a multi-state territory• Conduct periodic consultative visits to prospective and current clients• Analyze information provided by potential insureds and provide Underwriting with clear, concise, and timely reports to assist with decisions on pricing and account acceptability• Analyze loss information to identify root causes and develop loss sensitive recommendations for clients to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of their account• Provide education and training necessary to keep business partners current with risk control products and services as well as current industry standards• Share best practices with clients• Take initiative to keep business partners informed of emerging account issues• Conduct or assist with Marketing presentations to clients, agents, or outside groups• Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting and internal service teams, Agents/business partners, and client base• Create client satisfaction by demonstrating the value of risk control/safety services and respond to client needs• Develop and document success stories relating to measurable reductions in loss frequency and/or severity• Solicit client feedback to improve overall service• Maintain current knowledge of the regulatory environment (state/federal rules and regulations) pertaining to the transportation industry and exhibit desire to continue education in the transportation field• Maintain active involvement in local, state and national trucking associations/truck shows• Demonstrate effective planning, expense and cost control skills• Display positive image in the marketplace with all clients, including agency contacts, and maintain positive, professional appearance• Exhibit high level of expertise, leadership skills, and professionalism• Maintain good driving record• Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of commercial transportation risk management, loss control, or fleet safety experience.
  • Experience conducting onsite risk assessments of trucking or commercial transportation operations.
  • Commercial auto insurance risk control or loss control experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSRs, DOT compliance, CSA, hours-of-service, driver qualification, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
  • Experience evaluating fleet operations, loss history, and safety controls and developing practical risk-improvement recommendations.
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate findings to clients and Underwriting.

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
