Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced GSE Mechanic with a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) background to support the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) work center. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and inspect powered and non-powered aviation ground support equipment (GSE) supporting AH-1Z and UH-1Y rotary-wing aircraft. Your primary mission is to ensure equipment transitions efficiently through the maintenance cycle to produce Ready For Issue (RFI) assets that maximize flight-line readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work Center Flow & RFI Production: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair GSE within the MALS work center, ensuring assets meet all quality standards to be certified as Ready For Issue (RFI).
  • CDI Quality Assurance: Perform as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) conducting in-process and final inspections on all work center maintenance tasks. Sign off on logs to certify compliance with Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) standards.
  • Tire and Wheel Maintenance: Perform teardown, build-up, inspection, and safe inflation/deflation of aviation support equipment wheels in strict compliance with NAVAIR tire and wheel safety regulations.
  • H-1 Platform Equipment Support: Service rotary-wing specific support equipment, including hydraulic test stands, mobile electric power plants (MEPPs), tow tractors, and aircraft spotting dollies used for AH/UH platforms.
  • NAMP Documentation: Accurately document all maintenance actions, inspector sign-offs, and part requests using NALCOMIS / Optimized NALCOMIS (O-OMA).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 4+ years of military or contractor aviation GSE maintenance experience (MOS 6071, 6072, 6073, or civilian equivalent), specifically within a MALS or Navy AIMD work center environment.
  • Required Certification: Must hold or have previously held a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) qualification under the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to interpret complex hydraulic schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and NAVAIR technical publications.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain access to the military installation and relevant MALS facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and manipulate up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in a high-noise environment and around aircraft-related operations.
  • Fit-for-duty and/or respiratory physical may be required based on contract requirements.
