Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Illinois College - Jacksonville, IL 62650Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.00 HourlyThe Maintenance Technician performs supervised routine maintenance tasks, following specific detailed instructions in the maintenance of campus buildings and grounds. This individual is a self-motivated team player who works effectively with technical and non-technical team members and outside individuals.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical extension of position responsibilities. Assists with maintaining HVAC equipment (e.g. changes filters) Processes daily work orders Has ability to perform miscellaneous electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks Assists with repairs system controllers, wiring, and functions Assists when needed with reading and checking gauges, meters, and thermometers and records readings on log sheets Checks operation of equipment and reports to supervisor needed repairs for buildings and mechanical equipment Operates necessary equipment to perform the job (e.g. driving Kubotas, forklift, snow removal equipment and various power tools) Assists with the responsibility for securing an inventory of supplies and equipment Maintains operating records as required Assists with campus event setups Supervises and trains subordinates and other assigned personnel as required Responds to emergencies in off-hours, as necessary. Rotating on-call shifts posted weekly. Has knowledge of and operates within OSHA standards and college safety policies at all times   QualificationsQualifications: High school or equivalent, required Demonstrable work history reflecting reliability and dependability Must possess a current drivers license and evidence of insurability Intercultural competency, ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds Ability to work from stepladders with or without accommodations Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision Ability to stoop, bend, stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb, or balance frequently and for extended periods of time while performing job duties Good verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills are required Two years of building maintenance experience, preferred Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.   Additional Job Details: Job Title: Maintenance Technician Department: Facilities Management Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Status: Full Time, Hourly $18.00 per hour Class: Non-exempt Date Last Revised: August 2026 Tuesday-Saturday 8:00a.m-4:30p.m     About Illinois College: Illinois College is a residential, private liberal arts college located in the heart of Illinois, 70 miles northeast of Saint Louis, Missouri, and 30 miles west of Springfield, the capital of Illinois.
