Responsibilities

Now Hiring for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer at our Jacksonville, NC manufacturing plant.  In this role you will be counted on for the following activities:

  • Ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Inspect and validate processes to ensure alignment with established policies and procedures.
  • Support NPD efforts, such as defining customer and agency quality requirements, developing verification test plans and test equipment, inspection plans, etc.
  • Support engineering changes through validation, as well as implement and maintain inspection plans for new and existing products.
  • Assist in the identification of critical steps in processes to aid in the training of associates
  • Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of process controls, test equipment and improvement plans.
  • Investigate and define corrective and preventive actions pertaining to defective components, materials and products, through Internal Quality Notification (IQN).
  • Participate in supplier development and address Supplier Quality Notifications (SQN).
  • Address Customer Quality Notifications (CQN) with root cause analysis and preventative actions.
  • Participate as a member of the internal ISO-9001 Quality team – writing procedures, supporting and conducting internal and external audits and quality reviews.
  • Lead Six Sigma improvement and cost reduction efforts (FPY, scrap reduction, etc.).
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining 6S initiatives as they apply to this functional area.
  • Partner with the incoming inspection team to create quality plans for purchased materials.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the ASQ CQE Body of Knowledge.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a positive and proactive way.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead projects, manage multiple tasks, solve technical problems and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.
  • Proficiency in the use of statistical methods and Minitab statistical software.
  • Ability to perform in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated success in driving execution – act independently take initiative and follow assignment through to completion.
  • Up to 10% domestic travel.

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferably from an ABET accredited program or in the Natural Sciences or related technical discipline

This position is available at two different career levels depending on experience, education, etc.

  • Level one: Staff I – no relevant experience necessary
  • Level two: Staff II – 2 years relevant experience 

M.S. degree may be substituted from up to 2 years of relevant experience

 

Preferred:

  • Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
  • ASQ CQE Certification
  • Experience in an ISO:9001 manufacturing environment
