QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education:        Graduate of an accredited college or university with at least a master’s degree in a behavioral science discipline (must be independently licensed to practice in Arkansas).

 

  1. Experience:  Licensed in Arkansas as a Mental Health Professional with at least two years post-master’s experience in psychiatric or mental health setting. Must have completed hospital and clinic orientation period in order to act as a team leader.    

 

  1. Skills:  The therapist must possess effective communication skills and must demonstrate leadership ability and interest in professional growth.  Must be readily adaptable to changing physician/practice demands, without deterioration under stress; and must have a basic concept of customer service, scheduling, and counseling.        The therapist must possess demonstrated knowledge, training and skills necessary and appropriate to the patient-specific population.  Therapist must be able to set priorities and effectively delegate/coordinate interdisciplinary care based on the needs of the patient and clinic.

 

  1. Working Relationships:  Ability to function with minimum supervision and interface appropriately with healthcare team.

Performance & Competency:  Must successfully demonstrate competency in field and work environment on a continuous basis—including age-specific competencies, clinical competencies and organization-wide competencies such as fire, infection control, emergencies, etc.).  Performance will be measured and routinely evaluated with clinical administrative staff as required.  

 

DESCRIPTION:

The Therapist will provide quality individual and other therapies using professional standards, and according to their licensure and or certification.  The therapist will complete assessment/treatment with a variety of diagnostic tools, following best practices.  

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:

 

In performing job functions associate will comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, as well as Unity Health policies and procedures.

 

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCE :

 

Clinical Services:

 

  1. To carry an individual caseload proportionate to the patient population needs, providing them with individual or family therapy according to approved hospital standards.
  2. To conduct psychotherapy sessions daily in conjunction with the clinical schedule.
  3. To conduct assessment/interventions and other sessions on each assigned patient and document in a timely manner per clinic policy.
  4. To complete psychosocial/initial assessments on assigned patients in a timely/complete manner.
  5. Conduct basic crisis intervention services and make appropriate referrals as needed.  
  6. Monitors effective therapy.
  7. Knowledge of the development and maintenance of information/referral systems.
  8. Demonstrate a sensitivity and responsiveness to a variety of cultural values and beliefs and social determinants of health. 
  9. Demonstrates positive and effective verbal and writtent communication skills with patients, families and co-workers, and in patient documentation.
  10. Maintains a current level of clinical practice by selecting appropriate avenues for professional growth and routinely seeks continuing education according to best practice.  Evaluates goal attainment and revises goals on an on-going basis.
  11. Performs other similar duties as assigned by supervision.
