Southeastern NC. BGCSENC offers safe, inclusive, and enriching environments that promote academic
success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship.
Job Summary
The Regional Director of Programs provides strategic leadership, oversight, and accountability for all youth development programming across assigned Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina (BGCSENC) locations. This position ensures consistent delivery of high-quality, safe, engaging, and outcome-driven programs aligned with the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and BGCSENC's organizational priorities.
The Regional Director of Programs develops a culture of program excellence by coaching and supporting Club & Site Directors, ensuring curriculum fidelity, improving program quality, monitoring youth outcomes, overseeing grant implementation, and creating innovative programming that meets the evolving needs of youth and families. The Regional Director of Programs serves as the organization's subject matter expert on youth programming and continuously works to elevate program quality and measurable outcomes across multiple Club locations.
Major Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for all youth development programming across assigned counties and Club locations.
- Establish consistent, high-quality programming throughout the region.
- Ensure every Club delivers engaging, age-appropriate programming aligned with BGCA priority outcomes.
- Develop annual program calendars and organizational programming standards.
- Identify new programming opportunities that respond to community needs.
- Promote innovation while maintaining consistency across Club sites.
- Ensure programming supports organizational strategic initiatives.
Program Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Lead implementation of BGCA quality standards and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes across assigned counties and Club locations.
- Conduct regular site visits to observe programming, provide coaching, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Monitor lesson planning, curriculum implementation, and daily schedules.
- Develop corrective action plans when program quality falls below expectations.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Coordinate with Trainer; organization-wide program-specific training.
- Provide regular coaching through site visits and one-on-one meetings.
- Foster a positive culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
Curriculum & Program Implementation
- Ensure successful implementation of BGCA and organizational programs including, but not limited to:
- Power Hour, SMART Moves, Passport to Manhood, Smart Girls, Torch Club, Keystone Club, Youth of the Year, Summer Brain Gain, Money Matters, CareerLaunch, Diplomas to Degrees, Healthy Habits, Triple Play, Life & Workforce Readiness initiatives, Social-Emotional Learning programming
- Evaluate curriculum effectiveness and recommend enhancements that improve member outcomes.
Data, Outcomes & Evaluation
- Analyze program performance using internal dashboards such as pre/post surveys
- Ensure accurate collection of attendance, participation, and outcome data.
- Review NYOI and other survey data.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports.
Grant Management
- Ensure program deliverables are completed on time.
- Collaborate with the Development Department on proposal development.
- Prepare narrative reports for funders by collecting documentation supporting grant outcomes.
- Monitor program budgets and allowable expenditures.
Youth Safety & Risk Management
- Ensuring compliance with all BGCA Child Safety Requirements.
- Monitoring supervision ratios.
- Enforcing transportation policies.
- Supporting emergency preparedness.
- Monitoring program environments for safety.
- Ensuring mandated reporting procedures are followed.
- Supporting trauma-informed practices throughout the organization.
- Modeling professional boundaries and ethical behavior.
Family & Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with youth and families.
- Develop partnerships with schools and community organizations.
- Represent BGCSENC at community meetings.
- Promote program participation.
- Support recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Collaborate with community partners to expand opportunities for Club members.
Relationships
Internal
Maintains close contact with Club staff, leadership, and volunteers to exchange information, provide guidance, discuss program implementation, and support organizational goals.
External
Maintains relationships with schools, community organizations, employers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders to increase teen participation in programming.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Youth Development, Recreation, Human Services, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, or related field required or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of progressively responsible youth development leadership experience.
- Experience with grant-funded programming.
- Experience using data to drive program improvement.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to pass all criminal background, child abuse registry, and motor vehicle screenings.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this role, the employee must regularly communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
