Technical Writer / Graphic Artist

Summary Objective

This hybrid role requires a professional who can create clear and concise technical documentation while also producing visually appealing graphics to support content. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical writing background and graphic design expertise, ensuring that complex information is communicated effectively through text and visuals.

 

Essential Functions

  • Author technical documentation to include: Operations & Maintenance Manuals; Installation & Connection Manuals
  • Edit/audit technical documents as assigned
  • Design and develop high-fidelity graphics supporting technical documentation
  • Support Marketing with graphical design support

Competencies

  • Proven experience as a technical writer in a technology-driven environment.
  • Strong portfolio of both written documentation and 3D design work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe, Office 365).
  • Familiarity with graphic design software tools (e.g., PhotoShop, 3D Max, Premier Pro, AutoCad).
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise content for a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a passion for accuracy and quality.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.


Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Location

This position will work out of our Headquarter Office in Jacksonville, FL. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.

 

Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office environment. Regular trips to SEA Manufacturing Shop for observation and research are required.

 

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

 

Travel
Anticipated up to 15% travel for this position. Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary. Occasional travel to customer job sites and conferences may be required.

 

Required Education and Experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Graphic Design, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing and graphic design, preferably in a technology or engineering-related industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling/rendering software (e.g., Blender, SolidWorks, Autodesk 3DS Max, Cinema 4D).
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and design aesthetics.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and UX principles.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in a technical field such as software development, engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Video editing and animation experience using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects.
  • Strong project management skills and experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience in creating animations or interactive 3D content.
  • Knowledge of UX principles and instructional design.
  • Background in engineering, design, or computer science.
