Event Security – Part-Time

University of North Florida – Athletics Department

Position Overview

The University of North Florida is seeking reliable, customer‑focused individuals to join the Athletics Department as Part‑Time Event Security Staff. This role supports the successful execution of sporting events and special events across our athletic facilities by providing guest services, security support, crowd management, and parking assistance.

Event Security staff play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all guests, students, athletes, and community members attending UNF events.

Key Responsibilities

Event Operations

  • Work UNF sports games and various special events hosted within athletic facilities.

  • Support event setup, operations, and overall venue flow.

Guest Services

  • Serve as an usher, elevator attendant, ticket scanner, or directional staff member.

  • Provide accurate and friendly information regarding venue layout, seating, services, and event procedures.

  • Assist guests with questions, directions, and general event inquiries.

Security & Crowd Management

  • Monitor assigned areas to ensure safety and compliance with facility policies.

  • Support crowd movement, access control, and general situational awareness.

  • Report incidents, concerns, or emergencies to supervisors or appropriate personnel.

Parking & Access Support

  • Assist with parking operations during events as needed.

  • Help direct vehicles and guests to designated areas in an efficient and safe manner.

Work Schedule

  • Part‑time; hours vary based on UNF athletic schedules and event needs.

  • Must be available in evenings, weekends, and during major campus events.

 

Required Qualifications

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, public‑facing environment.
-Comfortable standing for long periods and working both indoors and outdoors.

Ability to remain professional and calm in large‑crowd settings.

Previous event or security experience is helpful but not required.

This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check.

The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator

 

 

The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.
