Job Title: Plumber's Helper
Department: Field Operations
Reports To: Plumbing Supervisor / Crew Lead

Position Summary

The Plumber's Helper assists licensed plumbers and plumbing crews with the installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of plumbing systems in residential construction projects. This entry-level position provides hands-on training while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable plumbing codes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist plumbers with the installation of water, sewer, gas, and drainage systems.
  • Load, unload, organize, and transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Cut, measure, and assemble piping and plumbing materials as directed.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and prepare work areas for plumbing installations.
  • Assist with rough-in and finish plumbing installations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site throughout the workday.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Stock company vehicles with necessary materials and supplies.
  • Assist with testing plumbing systems for leaks and proper operation.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and Jenkins Plumbing safety policies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Maintain company equipment and report damaged tools or safety concerns.
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, builders, and contractors.
  • Attend company meetings and required safety training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Valid driver's license preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Willingness to learn the plumbing trade and follow instructions.
  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

Preferred

  • Previous construction, warehouse, or labor experience.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Climb ladders and work in crawl spaces, attics, and other confined spaces.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and company equipment.
