SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Dream Finders Homes is currently seeking an experienced Senior Internal Auditor to join our growing Internal Audit team. The successful candidate will be an independent self-starter with strong attention to detail, a drive to accomplish goals and focused on quality results. The ideal team member is an effective communicator who works with cross functional teams to analyze problems and manage multiple priorities. The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for planning, executing, and leading various financial, operational and compliance audits, as well as internal control reviews designed to identify potential efficiencies, control enhancements, and process improvement opportunities. The Senior Internal Auditor works under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers. This position has wide latitude for independent judgment and significant exposure to members of senior management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization
- Execute Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance activities, including testing of control design and operating effectiveness for entity-level, process-level, application, and select IT general controls
- Partner with external auditors to support reliance on internal audit testing, including coordination of requests and alignment on documentation standards
- Assist in audit planning activities, including risk assessments, process walkthroughs, documentation of narratives and flowcharts, and development of audit procedures
- Execute audit procedures and SOX testing with limited supervision, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time
- Identify control deficiencies, assess risk and impact, and communicate observations and recommendations to management in a clear and concise manner
- Participate in audit status updates and closing meetings, presenting findings and recommendations as appropriate
- Prepare draft audit reports and support management in developing effective remediation plans that address root causes
- Perform follow-up procedures to validate completion of management action plans
- Support special projects and operational audits as needed, based on departmental priorities
- Stay current on evolving accounting/audit standards, SOX requirements, and industry trends, including risks relevant to the homebuilding and construction sector

Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements:

- Demonstrates a high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to various audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with audit tools or data analytics is a plus
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Audit
- 2-3 years of experience with a strong emphasis on SOX control testing
Preferred Attributes:
- Big 4 or other accounting / consulting firm experience preferred
- CPA, CIA or similar professional certification preferred
- Familiarity with audit management platforms (e.g., Workiva)
