A Day in the Life of a Small Engine Road Service Technician
As a Small Engine Road Service Technician, you play a key role in keeping our customers’ equipment running and minimizing downtime when they need us most.
You’ll travel to customer locations to diagnose, repair, and maintain small agricultural and turf equipment in the field. One stop may involve troubleshooting an engine issue, while the next may be preventative maintenance or an urgent repair to get a customer back up and running.
This is a role for someone who enjoys independence, hands-on problem solving, and taking pride in fixing things the right way.
You’ll work independently in the field but always with the support of a team behind you.
Every day is different, but the goal is always the same: do the job right and take care of the customer.
What You’ll Do
As a Small Engine Road Service Technician, you will:
- diagnose, repair, and maintain small agricultural and turf equipment at customer locationsÂ
- perform advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairsÂ
- respond to service calls efficiently to minimize customer downtimeÂ
- communicate clearly with customers about repairs, recommendations, and timelinesÂ
- maintain service vehicle, tools, parts inventory, and equipment in clean working orderÂ
- complete work orders, reports, and documentation accurately and on timeÂ
- participate in training programs to continue developing technical skillsÂ
- follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environmentÂ

What You Need to be a LandPro Small Engine Road Service Technician:
- 3+ years of experience performing equipment service repairsÂ
- strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing and repairing small enginesÂ
- knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systemsÂ
- ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnosticsÂ
- basic computer skills and ability to complete digital work ordersÂ
- ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedlyÂ
- valid driver’s license with a clean driving recordÂ
- ability to provide your own tools for the roleÂ
It’s a plus if you have:
- experience with John Deere, turf, or agricultural equipmentÂ
- previous road service or mobile technician experienceÂ
- experience using Service Advisor or similar diagnostic softwareÂ
- ability to mentor or train technician trainees Â
