Position Overview
This position is located in Jasper, IN and reports to the Product Configuration Team Lead.
High Level Statement of the Role:
Review customer documentation for accuracy, clarity and compatibility with Kimball’s product configuration processes. Ensure the customer’s intent is captured while entering, configuring and validating BOMs, part numbers, AMPLs, change orders, drawings and assembly instructions.
The Product Configuration Coordinator is responsible to:
- Receive and log product data. Review data for completeness. Ensure data is uniquely identified.
- Understand the intent of the documentation. Create and maintain Kimball part numbers.
- Control Bills of Material to the component level.
- Create and maintain the integrity of Approved Manufacturers Parts Lists (AMPLs).
- Monitor and manage the effectivity dates of configuration items.
- Provide guidance and training to users of product configuration information, documentation and our Engineering Change system.
- Communicate product configuration and data concerns effectively with internal and external customers.
- Directly support enhancements and development of business tools and systems.
Basic Candidate Background Requirements
- Successfully Interview with relevant hiring team
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug test
- A US person by ITAR definition
Key Performance Objectives:
Short Term to Mid Term: (0 to 3 months)
- Learn KEJ systems and controls by reviewing existing applicable processes, SOPs, quality systems and other relevant instructions.
- Demonstrate a general understanding of configuration management strategy and application.
- Demonstrate ability to navigate key transactions in SAP including those necessary to create and maintain master data.
- Work alongside others on the team while learning how to support the handling of customer data and interface with project teams.
Mid Term: (3 to 6 months)
- Competently apply Kimball’s methods for managing configuration items in SAP including the documentation vault, part number master data and the engineering change system.
- Provide master data and product configuration support to the project teams somewhat independently, leaning on peers to support only as needed.
- Provide monthly report out of accomplishments.
Long Term: (6 to >12 months)
- Work with Program Management, customer and/or production as necessary to resolve all issues with configuration data according to the project schedule.
- Work with other disciplines within KEI to properly configure information to the manufacturing process.
- Communicate product configuration and data concerns effectively with internal and external customers.
- Directly support enhancements and development of relevant business tools and systems.
- Monitor the effectiveness of configuration management processes and recognize, initiate and help drive needed changes to existing business procedures and policies.
