At Ashe Memorial Hospital, every patient interaction matters. We're looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Authorization & Referral Coordinator to join our Central Scheduling team. In this role, you'll serve as an important link between patients, providers, and insurance companies—helping ensure patients receive the care they need without unnecessary delays.

What You'll Do

  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing patient referrals
  • Schedule appointments and pre-register patients
  • Communicate with patients regarding appointments, preparation instructions, and financial responsibility
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Work closely with physicians, therapists, insurance carriers, and clinical staff to coordinate care
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy

What We're Looking For

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of healthcare office experience
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations
  • Knowledge of CPT coding, medical terminology, and Medicare reimbursement guidelines
