Hours: Monday - Friday, 6am - 2pm (Flexible)

Pay Rate: $20.35/hour (Quality Tech I) / $22.35/hour (Quality Tech II)

The Quality Technician is responsible for facilitating the parts quality process throughout the organization. In partnership with internal business units, this role ensures the precision and inspection of parts moving into the facility. This role supports Generac Quality Management Systems, drives data collection, reporting and analysis. Partners with leaders in the daily operation of an area with responsibility to improve quality systems, processes, and performance.

This role is heavily involved in managing raw materials, processing scrap, supporting ENO activities, leading 5S and workplace‑organization projects, maintaining a well‑organized area, troubleshooting product issues, and navigating SAP to track materials and resolve inventory discrepancies.

Responsibilities:
Quality Tech I

  • Conducts process and product audits to ensure team members are following standardized operating procedures and adhering to all quality standards.
  • Implements resolutions from basic to moderately complex problems.
  • Exercises judgement within procedures and practices in selecting methods and techniques for arriving at solutions.
  • Implements process improvements to continuously improve quality.
  • Cross train in multiple departments or stations and flex to other similar departments based on business necessity.
  • Assist with NPI/ECN changes and other duties as assigned by Quality Supervisor or Manager
  • Suggest and implement improvements of existing equipment, designs, and/or processes to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisors depending on the level and complexity.


Quality Tech II

  • All Quality Tech I responsibilities
  • Able to conduct standardized problem-solving process and aid/support implementing corrective actions to resolve design, supplier, or production quality issues.
  • Supports facility in gage/tool calibration and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R)
  • Trains others in quality tool usage to implement process improvements to continuously improve quality.
  • Requirements
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience. Demonstrated quality experience.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Qualifications:

  • Has the ability to maintain a professional rapport with support groups and peers while achieving results.
  • Leads communication to team members reviewing achievement to quality metrics and progress of countermeasures/projects.
  • Supports communication to Supervisor of issues impacting quality with appropriate countermeasures.
  • Ability to perform reading, writing, and math functions.
  • Basic blueprint, drawing, wiring, and schematic interpretation skills.
  • Intermediate SAP knowledge.
  • Intermediate proficiency with 5S.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Quality Control Plans, mistake proofing, Nonconforming Material Reports (NMR), Engineering Change Requests (ECR), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and ISO Quality System processes.
  • Ability to train others

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
