Position Description
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing and distributing critical project information by coordinating documentation, supporting field operations, and facilitating communication between internal teams, subcontractors, and consultants. This role ensures accurate tracking of RFIs, submittals, materials, safety documentation, and drawing updates to support successful project delivery. Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Ensure accurate project document control, including RFIs, submittals, design updates, and safety documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely distributionÂ
- Prepare and submit RFIs and submittals through Procore, tracking responses and coordinating with the design team and subcontractorsÂ
- Coordinate and document field reporting activities, including punch lists, field observations, safety walks, and progress photosÂ
- Track and communicate material and equipment delivery schedules, identifying potential delays and long-lead item impactsÂ
- Verify delivered materials on site to ensure alignment with approved submittals and project specificationsÂ
- Prepare and distribute agendas, meeting minutes, and action item logs for project and subcontractor meetingsÂ
- Support and report on critical project metrics, including RFIs, submittals, material status, and key project issuesÂ
- Collaborate with project team members, clients, design teams, and subcontractors to support project goals and daily coordinationÂ
- Assist with coordination of safety, quality, and pre-job meetings in partnership with the Superintendent and Safety Manager

Required QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceÂ
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based construction environmentÂ
- Basic understanding of construction project workflows and documentation processesÂ
Â
Preferred Experience (includes, but is not limited to):Â
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore.Â
- Familiarity with document control processes, including RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.Â
- Exposure to field reporting, safety documentation, and material tracking.Â
- Prior experience or internship in the construction industry.Â
- OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification.Â

- Ability to work outdoors in varying Caribbean weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and sun exposureÂ
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periodsÂ
- Ability to navigate active construction sites with changing ground conditions and elevationsÂ
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 poundsÂ
- Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, and other access equipment as requiredÂ
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Â
Compensation & Benefits Â
The base salary for this position is one component of J. Benton Construction’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s skills, experience, education, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
