Job Description Summary

Analyze corporate bond securities, particularly within the leveraged finance universe, to assist traders on balance sheet management and add value for clients. Analysis will include high-level work on the credit markets, sector and issuer research, financial modelling, and timely breakdown of real-time news relevant to our business. The ideal candidate will assist Sumridge in generating accretive returns for our firm and for clients through trade ideas. We are looking for a self-motivated, hard working and intellectually curious individual.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with traders on balance sheet management, providing guidance for decision making.

  • Collaboration with sales personnel to provide relevant insight on topical situations in real-time fashion.

  • Ability to analyze trading opportunities at all levels of the capital structure (both long and short) and contribute ideas across the entire SumRidge desk.

  • The candidate will develop pre-existing or new relationships with client decision makers with the goal of driving business.

  • Stay current on market developments, credit ratings and regulatory changes as it pertains to corporate securities.

  • Work with the data team to help generate reports to assist traders and sales personnel on trends and trade ideas.

  • Identify distressed debt opportunities and provide necessary restructuring and recovery analysis.

  • Analyze time-sensitive information in real-time and its impact on securities within the credit universe. 

Skills:

  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Math and analytics sufficient for quantitative and analytical analysis to assist the development of financial models.

  • Problem solving and the ability to think independently sufficient to market ideas, services and products to our brokers and clients.

  • Excel, Bloomberg and other relevant tools to disseminate market data. Experience with VBA, Python, statistical modelling, or other programming a plus but not required

Education

Bachelor’s: Finance, Economics, or a related field (Required); Master’s

The position will be located in our office in Jersey City, NJ.
