Description
- Administers pre-hospital care, Advanced, and/or Basic Life Support based on licensure for patients under the direction of licensed physician, in accordance with established hospital policies/procedures and within the Illinois Department of Public Health regulations.
- Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
- Other roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalency.
- Illinois Emergency Medical Technician and CPR.
- Illinois drivers license with no suspensions/revocations within the past three years, or any convictions for reckless driving, speeding (in excess of 15mph over the limit), or driving under the influence within the past five years.
- EKG course required.
- Related experience preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the use of specialized equipment for all procedures approved by IDPH and/or EMS.
- Ability to function in a calm, efficient manner during emergency/crisis situations.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Motor coordination and finger dexterity required to operate ambulance and equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintains professional appearance in accordance with the department dress code policy.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is of medium to heavy demand.
- Routine lifting requirements of 100 pounds or more.
- Standing and walking are required throughout the shift.
- Sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling are required.
- Works inside and outside with exposure to extreme weather conditions.
