Purpose of the Position
Â
The CDL driver position will be responsible for transporting various waste streams from generator sites to designated facilities. For EIS, the CDL driver will primarily be responsible for driving a Vacuum Truck. Vacuum Truck experience is a must. Being able to operate a manual transmission is preferred. Possessing a Hazardous Materials Endorsement is also preferred but not required. Experience operating Box Truck and a Roll Off truck is also preferred. Â

Essential Position Responsibilities
Â
- Safely operate all power equipment and vehicles in accordance with DOT laws and regulations, Company and Customer Policies and Procedures on public highways, company, and customer property. This may include liquid vacuum trucks, air movers, roll off trucks, and box trucks.
- Understands DOT regulations as they pertain to hazardous and non-hazardous waste transport and disposal.
- Adheres to all state laws, safety policies and practices.
- Works safely in and around heavy machinery in loud, hazardous and industrial settings.
- Ability to handle and lift heavy objects (tanks lids, manhole covers, petroleum hoses, various lengths of hard-pipe and heavy fittings).
- Comply with all PPE requirements as directed by OSHA and company policy.
- Work as part of a team to empty tanks, clean tanks, clean oil/water separators, clear supply and return lines, and other related duties as assigned.
- Understand load limits and weight restrictions as well as having an understanding of load securement and load segregation. When needed placarding and labeling knowledge is helpful.
- Be able to properly complete a manifest or Bill of Lading to be in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintains records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo according to the state and federal regulations.
- Completes daily pre-trip and DVIR.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Reads maps and follows written and verbal communications.
- Maintain good housekeeping at the facility and in the vehicle.
- Helps ensure that all activities meet or exceed the customer’s expectations, Company standards, and all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- At times be willing to function as a field technician on lab pack projects and drum pick-ups.
- 40 Hour Hazwoper certification is required. Â

Physical activities: Handling heavy, stiff, slippery hoses. Working in loud, hot, cold, wet environments for long periods, and driving for long periods can be expected. Climbing up on top of the truck to check tank levels, inspect loads etc. Â

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Steel-toe Boots, Hard Hat, Eye Protection, Hearing Protection, Gloves, and at times wearing FR clothing.
