This role is part of Alcon's Manufacturing function, a team that designs, produces and delivers innovative eyecare products to more than 140 countries through operational excellence and efficiency.
The Operator II/Trainer, Production Technical Operations (Para-Professional & Support Path) is primarily responsible for operating the production line as needed and serving as a trainer for the assigned area, while ensuring training compliance requirements are met. This role serves as a technical resource on the production floor, leading day-to-day workflow activities, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and driving compliance with quality and regulatory standards. You will work closely with production teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Specifics Include:
Set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on production equipment and systems
Coordinate and monitor production workflow to meet established schedules, volume targets, quality standards, and cost objectives
Review work orders, allocate resources, and support daily production activities to ensure operational efficiency
Move, pack, sort, and handle raw materials and finished goods in accordance with established procedures
Monitor product quality, identify defects, and implement corrective actions, including product segregation, rework, or scrap disposition as necessary
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation to support compliance, traceability, and performance analysis
Serve as a subject matter resource for associates by providing guidance on manufacturing processes, quality standards, and operational expectations
Ensure associates are trained and certified in accordance with standard operating procedures while tracking training progress and completion
Conduct real-time coaching and reinforce defect identification, inspection techniques, and process controls using current quality standards
Monitor quality metrics, defect trends, and scrap performance to identify opportunities for improvement and prevent recurring issues
Adhere to GxP requirements by following SOPs, maintaining documentation, supporting quality systems, and completing required training
Identify, recommend, and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and compliance
Inspect, test, maintain, repair, and support the installation of manufacturing equipment and systems
Analyze production data, perform calculations, assist with cost estimates, and support process investigations and problem-solving efforts
Assist with the testing, validation, and implementation of new or modified products, processes, and systems
Demonstrate a commitment to regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
Work Hours: 36 - 48 hours per week: 6:30 AM EST – 6:30 PM EST (12-hour rotating night shift: 2 days on, 2 days off, and every other weekend)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Technical Degree or Certification in Engineering, Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Prior manufacturing or production experience
Experience leading, training, mentoring, or coaching employees in a manufacturing environment
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Knowledge of GMP, GxP, or other regulated manufacturing environments
Experience developing, delivering, and documenting training programs in a manufacturing or production environment
