Job Summary
The Department of Computing at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month Lecturer position. This is a non-tenure-track teaching faculty appointment with a primary focus on undergraduate instruction. Lecturers primarily conduct teaching and service activities. The successful candidate will teach eight courses per twelve-month appointment year, with loads distributed across fall, spring, and summer terms as assigned by the department chair. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in service activities related to the department, university, and discipline.
The position offers an opportunity to join a student-centered department that offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in several domains: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Information Systems, and Information Technology. The department serves a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional students at the Johnson City main campus, the BlueSky Chattanooga Center, and through online delivery.
Required QualificationsÂ

 Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in the computing discipline, with particular emphasis on one or more of the following areas:
- data management, database design, query languages, data modeling, data analyticsÂ
- user experience, information architecture, human-computer interaction
- information security, network security, information risk management
- computer science, programming, data structures, algorithms, artificial intelligence/machine learning
- Professional experience in organizational settings relevant to the teaching areas
- Previous teaching or instructional experience at the collegiate level is preferred
- Experience with online learning management systems
