Job Summary
Employees in this position work under close supervision and are responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environments across academic and administrative buildings, medical facilities, residence halls, and apartments located on the College of Medicine campus. Duties include cleaning and maintaining public areas, assisting with grounds upkeep, and completing assigned custodial tasks.
Responsibilities include performing a variety of cleaning and custodial duties to ensure all areas remain sanitary, presentable, and safe for students, staff, patients, and visitors. Custodians may also assist with grounds maintenance and support essential operations during inclement weather, including snow removal and emergency response efforts.
Employees must be available to work any shift, and overtime may be required as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of standard cleaning methods, custodial procedures, and sanitation practices
Ability to safely and effectively use custodial supplies, materials, and equipment
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, staff, and the public
Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor, including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the eighth grade
